Description of the Device Tobii PCeye systems allow users to control computers, TVs, communication devices and even their home environment with eye movements. The PC eye uses technology to track the user’s gaze around a screen, and provides a control option that only requires minimal movement. There are similar systems that perform the same function such as Eviacam. Apps and downloads like Eviacam are free, but provide less precise function than Tobii Technology.

This device is great for individuals with limited mobility, of limbs, limited speech, hemiparesis, paralysis, and many more conditions that may leave a user with limited motion or speech. It provides hands free control of devices.

Temporary or Permanent

This device can be used as long as it suits the user. Be aware that TOBII systems and equipment like it can cost up to $40,000, so consider a trial version before purchasing.

Cost

The TOBII systems can range from $20,000-$40,000 so they do require a large investment to purchase, insurance and other resources may be able to help with the cost so consult your physician or therapist for information and guidance.

Support Needs (caregiver)

This is a high tech piece of equipment. Caregivers may need to  be trained in troubleshooting and assist with device customization and setup.
