Using a Televator
Installing a Televator
Description of the Device
This televator (elevator) is an in home elevator cab for individual use. The Televator spans two levels of the home.
This allows individuals with limited mobility, or individuals who use mobility devices such as a wheelchair, walker, or cane to move between levels of their home safely, increasing independence and vastly decreasing risk for fall.
Temporary or Permanent
This is a permanent renovation to the home, although regular maintenance may be required to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the elevator. See our video of installation requirements or contact your local accessibility technology company to find out more about installing an elevator.
Cost
Televators are permanent renovations to the home which may be expensive, but, every year spent receiving care from a facility or live in assistant can be MUCH more expensive, making this a much cheaper option in the long run. Any renovation to a home will be a substantial investment. Costs will vary.
Aesthetics
Our elevator is designed to seamlessly blend into the living room. The top was covered with flooring material to match, so when the elevator is not in use, it is barely noticed within the space of the living room.
Contraindications for device use
Individuals with decreased problem solving, or judgement abilities may not be appropriate for this type of device. Be sure to check the weight capacity of any televator you look into buying, as you must account for not only the weight of an individual, but also the weight of equipment, a caregiver, or in some cases both.
