Smart light information and options

There is growing body of evidence that the quality of light we use in our homes has a direct impact onto our health. Lights with a high Kelvin rating (6500K, full spectrum) are great in the morning however can disrupt melatonin production if used at night. The smart light developed for Jim’s place has an on board clock that controls the quality of light based on the time of day. For example, it will produce a full spectrum bright light in the morning of high Kelvin ratings when we needed to cease the production to melatonin. In the evening this light will reduce the Kelvin ratings to 4000 to 5000 Kelvin (warm light) and then utilize a red light at night so as not to interfere with melatonin production at night. This smart light mimics the sun and tries to be in sync with our circadian rhythm to maximize health and to limit lights impact on the quality of sleep. Note: usually all lights have a Kelvin rating printed on the box. Try to use high Kelvin ratings in the morning, and a lower Kelvin rating light in the afternoon and night.
