Sock Aid

Description of the Device

A sock aid is a wonderful device that makes putting on socks a possibility when mobility is limited. The user puts the sock on the plastic portion, drops it to the floor, and pulls the sock on with the ropes. It eliminates the need to bend forward while dressing.

This device is commonly used after having a hip replacement surgery.The sock aid allows users to don socks without bending too far forward.

Cost 

Sock Aids come in different sizes and varieties that usually cost around $10 or more.

Support Needs (caregiver)

Caregiver may be needed for some dressing assistance but these low tech devices can greatly reduce the need for help and increase independence.

Contraindications for device use

Always ask your OT, physician and care team before purchasing equipment to ensure it is right for you or your loved one.
