Description of the Device
Magnetic clothing is available on the market, but can also be make at home with simple materials. Clothing with magnetic closures make dressing easier if grasping and moving small objects like buttons is difficult. Magnets can replace buttons in shirts, or pants depending on the intended use, and can make getting dressed quick and easy.
Magnetic clothing is great for individuals who have trouble with traditional buttons and trouble with small hand movements due to tremors or limited function, but still wish to dress themselves independently. With the shirt we made in the video, a user simply has to clasp the top magnet and the rest of the shirt buttons itself.
Cost
Costs vary for DIY versions of this clothing. Commercially available products can be expensive, contact SAU OT with questions about how we used magnets and simple sewing to make one.
