Adapted Gardening Tools

Description of the Devices

Long handle garden tools help seated gardeners access traditional ground gardens.  Garden tools with larger grips and support cuffs allow you to use your larger bicep and tricep arm muscles to maneuver the head of tool instead of having to use smaller muscles in the wrist and forearm.

Use of the Devices

Decreased mobility, strength and increased safety.

Temporary or Permanent

Temporary conditions may require options that can be removed. This equipment can be used as long as needed. 

Permanent conditions may require remodeling or changing the physical environment which could include changing the structure of the gardening area. 

Cost

Low cost- prices will vary.

Support Needs (caregiver)

Initial instruction or set up for use may be needed by caregiver or Occupational Therapist.

Several styles are available.
