Generally, the counters should be tall enough so a wheelchair user can easily wheel up to the counter without bumping their knees or the armrests, allowing them to reach the sink. \u00a0For users with limited trunk control, reaching too far forward toward the faucet may cause loss of balance. A higher countertop would provide the user with stability on their chest while reaching forward.<\/p>\n<p><b>Use of the device <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Decreased mobility, posture instability, hygiene<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Temporary or Permanent Considerations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Temporary conditions may require options that can be removed.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>If you have cabinets underneath your sink, you can open them, remove items, \u00a0to provide closer contact with the sink. This might provide a temporary solution in some situations.<\/p>\n<p>Changing the height of your countertop would require a remodel<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Permanently changing the height of your countertop is a higher cost.
