Description of the Device<\/b><\/p>\n

The X10 devices and systems come with a remote, transceiver, and a light or appliance module. The modules plug into the existing outlets in your home, and allow you to control lamps, radios, and other devices that plug-in all from the same remote.<\/span><\/p>\n

This system can also be programmed with other systems and apps to allow control of TVs, and they can be linked for control by iPhone or Ipad. Be aware that not all devices are compatible with the X10, see our video below for the testing procedure. <\/span><\/p>\n

Use of the device\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Having control of each device from one remote is great for those with limited mobility. X10 can also come with motion sensing devices that can act as safety, or surveillance devices. See our pages on nightlights, and Passive infrared pages for more information. <\/span><\/p>\n

Brief statement about temporary or permanent<\/b><\/p>\n

These devices are easy to set up, and can be moved to any outlet around the house. No permanent adaptations to the home are required the X10 will use home\u2019s existing outlets and electrical system. <\/span><\/p>\n

Cost\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The X10 systems are usually relatively low cost. Each individual <\/span>remote<\/span>, <\/span>transceiver<\/span>, and <\/span>module<\/span> will range from $14-$20. Additional modules can all be controlled by the same remote and can connect to one transceiver module. <\/span>Appliance modules<\/span> (accept cords with 3 prongs) and motion sense modules are also available. REMEMBER, some devices are not suitable for X10 control, consider buying a returnable model first and testing devices in your home before buying multiple. <\/span><\/p>\n

Support Needs (caregiver)<\/b><\/p>\n

Caregiver support may be needed for setup and problem solving, but the X10 is relatively maintenance free once set-up.<\/span><\/p>\n
